On Tuesday the 24th of June, Hillary and Te Kanawa once again joined forces to create the unforgettable Mount Taniwha Carnival.
As students arrived at Hillary, the house was buzzing with excitement. Crowds gathered to sample the green machine’s unbeatable offerings: cookies, crepes, brownies, cold drinks, KFC, sausage sizzles, and even the unique and tempting Dubai chocolate. Which certainly did not disappoint.
Heading down to the castle outside Te Kanawa, students were greeted by the always entertaining dunking station — run by self sacrificing staff, students, and prefects. True to Maclean’s tradition, crowds eagerly lined up and gathered around to watch each thrilling splash.
Adding to the vibrant atmosphere were lively K-pop performances that brought colour, energy, and extra cheer to the day.
Outside Te Kanawa, stalls showcased some truly remarkable and unexpected creations, from 3D prints to boxes of mystery-flavoured cupcakes.
Inside Tk, the energy was unmatched thanks to a performance by the much-beloved band Glenfern. Students and teachers danced, sang along, and swayed to Glenfern’s nostalgic and atmospheric tunes, soaking up every moment.
Overall, the Mount Taniwha Carnival was a huge success, setting the bar high — and making the competition with the upcoming Batman Carnival even more intense. The castle enjoyed a day packed with incredible food, entertainment, and unforgettable experiences.
Until next year, Mount Taniwha Carnival — you never fail to impress.
