Every Wednesday at 7:30am, a group of Macleans College students gathers in Te Kanawa house commons for their weekly run club session. Students meet early to warm up before heading out on the morning route.

Over 230 students took part in the first run of the year, warming up then moving off at a steady pace.  The group followed a short path through the nearby Macleans Park and along the beach, keeping an easy pace that supports all levels. Each week presents a unique course, adding variety to the runs for different paces.

The Macleans Run Club is open to all students, regardless of previous experience and many students are using the routine of the club to build their level of fitness.

Club members are supportive and encouraging during the session, with friendships developing as runners take the chance to connect with their peers. The morning run provides a weekly energy boost that helps set a positive mood before school begins and support student’s overall mental well-being. Students have also reported that the sessions reduce stress and allow them to feel more engaged throughout the day.

All students are welcome to join Run Club, regardless of their experience or fitness levels. The club promotes fun, friendship, and fitness for all who take part.
