It’s that time of year again. A time which divides students. You either love it or hate it. It’s Cross Country.

On the 29th April, all students took part in the iconic four-kilometer run, with both competitive and non-competitive runners alike grinding through the muddy course. It was a day of fun, as well as a time to showcase our talented runners and let them shine while recognising their hard work.

Despite the less than ideal conditions, the event pushed through, as always. Like last year, heavy rain forced students inside their houses, waiting for their races. But once outside, no amount of rain could dampen the contiguous Macleans spirit.

One great example of the Macleans spirit shown was when a senior girl – who despite having broken her legs earlier in the year, completed the course with incredible resilience. A true representation of effort 100%.

As for the competitive runners, the legendary Ben Oxford once again secured first place in the senior boys, this marking his fifth consecutive cross country victory.

Altogether, cross country 2025 was another successful event, showcasing students’ efforts and grit. And for the third year in a row, Mansfield house came on top in claiming the cross country shield, with Upham and Hillary house following behind.

A big thank you to all staff who made this day possible and well done to everyone who took part.
